Privacy policy
Iglo is a study timer: you pick a block of ice, study while it melts, and fill the pool for Iglo, our penguin. We collect as little as possible. Most of what you do in the app stays on your phone.
Who is responsible
Cool App Company Ltd, a company registered in Cyprus, is the data controller for personal data processed in Iglo. Contact us at contact@coolappcompany.com.
What stays on your phone
The following is stored only on your device and is never sent to us:
- your sessions (block, length, time and subject if you add one)
- your daily goal, streak and stats
- your answers in the intro (for example what you study for and how stressed you are)
- settings such as language and haptics
Reminders are local notifications shown by your phone itself. We don't send push notifications and don't store any notification token.
App locking (Screen Time)
Iglo uses Apple's Screen Time framework to lock the apps you choose while the ice melts. Your selection is handled by iOS. Iglo only receives anonymous tokens from Apple and cannot see which apps you picked, which apps are on your phone or how you use them. None of this is sent to us.
What we store for the leaderboard
So you and your friends can see each other on the leaderboard, we store the following on our server:

We don't store email, phone number, photos, location or individual sessions. Only your friends see your name, character and minutes. Other users see nothing about you.
The legal basis is our agreement to provide the app and the leaderboard (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions are bought and paid for through Apple. We never receive your card details. To know whether your subscription is active, we use a service called Adapty, which receives purchase information from Apple (such as product, purchase date and renewal status) linked to an anonymous ID. The legal basis is the subscription agreement and our bookkeeping obligations.
Who we share data with
We never sell data and never use it for advertising or tracking. We use these providers, which process data on our behalf under data processing agreements:
- Supabase: stores the leaderboard data on servers in the EU (Stockholm).
- Adapty: keeps track of subscription status. Adapty is based in the USA. Transfers of data outside the EEA are protected by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Apple: handles payment, the App Store and Screen Time under Apple's own terms.
No tracking
Iglo has no ads, no third-party analytics and no tracking across apps or websites.
How long we keep data
Leaderboard data is kept for as long as your account exists. If you choose Settings → Reset all data, your account and everything we store about you on the server is deleted immediately, along with the data on your phone. If you delete the app without doing this first, email contact@coolappcompany.com and we'll delete the account. Purchase records are kept as long as accounting law requires.
Children and teens
Iglo is made for students. If you are under 13, a parent or guardian must approve your use of the leaderboard.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive your data (portability). You can change your name and character yourself in Settings, and delete everything with "Reset all data". For anything else, contact contact@coolappcompany.com. We reply within 30 days.
If you believe we process your data unlawfully, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live (in Norway: Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.no) or to the Cyprus Commissioner for Personal Data Protection (dataprotection.gov.cy), where we are registered.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. We'll tell you in the app about significant changes.
